If this is a Christian hostel, do I have to be a Christian to stay there?
No – Anyone is welcome to apply.
All applicants are expected to adhere to the ethos and house rules/policies that form part of the Conditions of Residency.
Can anyone stay?
Unfortunately, no – The Hostel provides accommodation primarily for full time students between the ages of 18 and 21 who have recently left school or undertaken a GAP year and are studying tertiary education.
For this reason, the hostel reserves the right to refuse accommodation to a person outside of this category.
Can I cook my own meals?
The main hostel is fully catered and does not offer a self-catered option. However, students can prepare their own lunch on weekdays and access the kitchen at times when it is not being used for meal preparations.
The Self-Catering Flat is for students who have special dietary requirements that cannot be catered for in the hostel, such as lactose intolerance, gluten free or vegetarian requirements.
When can I move in?
The Hostel officially opens for students before the start of the semester.
You have a few options as to when to arrive:
- On the weekend before Orientation week commences if you wish to attend events held by Massey or UCOL.
- During Orientation week.
- Or a few days before you course begins.
Just let us known at least five days before your expected arrival.
Can I have my friends to stay or for meals?
Yes – If you want someone to stay overnight, please discuss with the managers.
They are also welcome for an occasional meal (normally no more than once or twice a semester) – please ask the managers first.
Do I have to move out during the holidays?
Yes – you are expected to return home in your semester and term breaks. Your room however is yours for the whole academic year so you can leave your things there.
Please come and speak to us if you have any difficulty in going home during these times.
If you are granted permission to stay during semester breaks, you will be required to pay additional board payments.
If I move out during the holidays, do I have to keep paying fees?
Although we do not charge for the time you are away on semester and term breaks, the Payment Option you select is for the annual board and must still be paid on schedule.
How much does it cost to stay?

The Hostel’s fees include 3 meals per day, unlimited Internet, and off-road car parking.
Is the Hostel safe?
Yes, as safe as it can be.
All exterior doors are locked and require a key fob to enter the building, and you will have your own key to your room. You are free to come and go as you choose!
Also, because it is a small Hostel people get to know each other and can look out for each other. There are staff on site 24 hours a day.
